And the "God my God" as a reference to the Father. Both of these scriptures respectively share the same construction as the verse above. I think in both the hebrew and greek texts as well. But how could we respond to those who argue that Psalm 45:6 never applied to the human King of the day but applies ONLY to Christ as a Christophanic Psalm, therefore meaning that Christ is called "the God" because he is the Second Person of the Trinity?Timitriushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11786235138604501688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3653325549409648983.post-11268419545399811882014-01-01T12:15:45.298-08:002014-01-01T12:15:45.298-08:00The author of the UBS textual commentary I use is ...The author of the UBS textual commentary I use is written as:

Bruce M. Who is the author of the book you quoted here?

It has been admitted by respected trinitarian scholars (UBS text writers) that if autou ("his") were in the original writing of Heb. 1:8, the proper rendering earlier in the same verse must be “God is your throne”! – p. 663, A Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament, United Bible Societies, 1971.

Sou not only has “considerable degree of doubt,” it is nearly impossible. The UBS Committee’s own comments on the evidence make autou virtually certain as the original word, and, therefore, in the committee’s own word’s, Hebrews 1:8 “must be” translated “God is thy throne” and not “thy throne, O God.” - (study pp. 662-663 in A Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament, United Bible Societies, 1971.) Sometimes when one is trying to reason this scripture and wanting to make it even simpler when trying to figure out how it applies to Jesus; I would say this scripture is used in the OT in Psalms 45 (exact verse escapes me), and it applies there to David. Now one wouldn't want to equate David to Jesus, would they?curtjester1https://www.blogger.com/profile/11479515331367594005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3653325549409648983.post-85101851133384368932013-10-25T09:43:00.762-07:002013-10-25T09:43:00.762-07:00Thank you for this very extensive article.
